Waking up to a cold and wet morning will always guarantee my trying to stay in bed as long as possible, but this morning, the sound of these two birds got me up and quickly out of bed.

The last time a kookaburra came into our yard, Caleb chased it away before I could grab my camera. They're carnivorous and I'm not willing to chase down small rodents or amphibians to attract them so I just wait for them to come back on their own.

This morning, I found them perched on our neighbour's fence. It makes me a little sad to think that when we leave Australia, we won't be hearing or seeing these gorgeous birds in our backyard anymore. I guess I'll just have to savour it while it lasts.

Good morning, kookaburras! Thanks for dropping by!
