Becoming An Early Bird

I've always been a night owl. I can stay up late into the wee hours of the morning, no problem. All nighters used to be my thing.

But I'm getting old and I'm realizing that if I can wake up before the boys do, I can be so much more productive and I'm in a better mood for the rest of the day.

There's also the benefit of working in natural sunlight.

Unfortunately, that means I have to give up my precious night time me-time, which is when I usually do my work and scrapbooking. But let's face it, most days, I'm mentally, physically and creatively exhausted by the time the boys are in bed so I just waste my night in front of the computer.

Making this transition means I'll be catching up on lost sleep for the next little while so productivity might drop before it picks up again but I'm excited for this new routine.

So what about you? Are you an early bird or a night owl?

  1. I really need to start waking up early too. The babies usually go back to sleep after their first bottle, which means I go back to sleep as well (because I'm still exhausted from staying up wayyy too late the night before). If I only learned to go to bed earlier and then not go back to bed in the morning, I'd be so much better off!

    Tell me how it goes!!!

    1. Start sleeping earlier, get caught up on your rest (oh wait.. is that even possible?!) and then you'll naturally start waking up earlier (or staying up after that first bottle)!

I was off to a really good start and then I stayed up late two nights in a row to get caught up on work and both days I was exhausted by the time 1pm rolled around. Thank God for naps! haha

  2. I am a night person, and can go on 36hrs without sleep, yet still functional. lol.. But then again, I work shifts so sleep is all over the place for me.

    1. How on earth! I am too old for that now...
