At Nathan's class breakfast last week, he wanted to work on an activity with one of his good buddies. They chose one to practice making angles and shapes.
Nathan set up two rods, pinned them to the board with a nail, then very excitedly asked his friend to "quiz me on my angles!".
He repeated a couple more times but his friend didn't say a word, he just reached over and put his hand on Nathan's shoe and sat up again.
His mother and I looked at each other, then she asked her son whether he had heard Nathan's request. He said he did.
Nathan, still anxiously waiting, repeated his request one more time.
Slowly and suspiciously, Nathan's friend reached over to Nathan's foot and squeezed one more time.
Suddenly, his hesitancy all made sense. The whole time we thought he was fooling around and ignoring Nathan's request but it turns out he was hearing Nathan ask him to "squeeze me on my ankles!"
