Mid-Winter Break

It's the first week of school holidays and we're really enjoying our time off.

We won't be going away, but as always, I have a few things planned for the boys and I to do. Andrew will be busy studying for his end of rotation exams so we're trying to keep out of his way as much as possible.

Usually, this means we're out of the house so I don't get to sit down at my computer until the boys have gone to bed, which seems to be happening later and later.

I try to sit down and collect my thoughts every night. I don't like to go without blogging for too long, even though it's been pretty sporadic lately, because this is how I record and remember things. But life's getting busier and work gets priority sometimes so if it gets a little quiet around here, you'll know why!

Come What May

After what may be the most brutal plane trip I have ever endured, we are finally back in Brisbane.

And what better way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon than to listen to Andrew play our (new) piano while Nathan plays with his Lego and Caleb naps.

Come what may. I'm so glad I had Andrew with me this time around!

Keep Calm and Move On

Reflecting upon this past year amid our piles of moving boxes, and even larger piles of things that have yet to be packed, I'm glad this year is coming to an end.

Not because we didn't have a good year. I think we had a great year.

We've made lots of new friends, familiarized ourselves with life in Australia and we've all grown in different ways. I'm more aware and more confident in myself than ever before. But I'm ready to move on. I'm ready for a fresh start with all the new possibilities and adventures that lie ahead.

After surviving the most horrific trip to Ikea in the history of the world, yesterday, which included vomiting, no spare clothes in the car except Andrew's t-shirt, more vomiting, no spare clothes at all, having to buy a kid-sized towel to cover my child for what was quite possibly the most humiliating walk out of Ikea, ever, and surviving a move to the other side of the world, I think we can survive anything.

But to borrow words from the Captain in Wall-E, "I don't want to survive. I want to live."

So that's what I plan to do in 2012. Live.

Let's see where this new year takes us!

Sneak Peek of Byron Bay

As Andrew's holidays come to an end, I'm clinging onto every last second of it, trying to squeeze out every ounce of rest possible. Andrew's been a huge help around the house, doing more than his fair share of the cleaning and watching the boys. So instead of taking up our precious time blogging (as much as I love it), I'm going to give you a sneak peek of our recent trip down to Byron Bay. I'll be back with a full-length post (or two) very soon!

Enjoy!
