The idea of parenting being a balancing act became a lot more real around here recently. There have been mornings where I don't even want to get out of bed because I know that as soon as I set foot on the ground, I'll be walking the fine line between second chances and following through with consequences.
It seems we've fast-forwarded to the teenage years and every morning, it's the same few tracks on repeat.
Get up! Get up, you're going to be late!
Get dressed. Are you dressed? It's time to get dressed!
Brush your teeth. Have you brushed your teeth yet? Hurry up and brush your teeth!
Go down and have breakfast. Have you eaten yet? Eat your breakfast!
Pack your lunch. Is your lunch packed yet? Pack your lunch!
And it goes on and on, day after day. Like a broken record.
Does anyone know when this will end? I'm ready for some new tunes.
