We were right back into the swing of things this morning.

With our "new" routine, we're up at the crack of dawn which lets us get ready at a leisurely pace. This resulted in us getting to school ohhh, about 20 minutes before the bell rings for the Cycle 2 kids to make their way to the classroom for 8:40am.

Even at that time, there were a bunch of kids running around and I was basically the only parent hanging around. So I decided to give Nathan his space. I called him over, told him Caleb and I were going to head off now, wished him a good day and let the boys hug before we left.

Then I had an hour to kill before Caleb's swimming lesson.

I really didn't want to go home because it's a pain trying to get Caleb back into the carseat, and because the little guy was yawning already. If we went home, he'd sleep for sure.

So reluctantly, I drove straight to the pool.

Typically, Caleb tries to jump into the pool as soon as we get there. And for that reason alone, I generally wait until just before our class to get to the pool. Otherwise, it's a big struggle.

But today, he surprised me.

We started out sitting at the chairs along the side of the pool. I read a magazine while he pushed the chairs around and walked between them. He kept blowing kisses, waving and pointing at the pool, which is his way of telling me he wants to go somewhere - to the pool. But not once did he stand at the edge of the pool or try to climb in before it was time.

I was so impressed with the incredible amount of restraint my little 16-month-old showed today.

Amazing how much change can happen just in a couple of weeks.
