Melbourne Day 5: St. Kilda Pier, Phillip Islands Tour

We started off our morning with a leisurely stroll on the St. Kilda Pier.

It was a beautiful morning, so warm and fresh.

Not a cloud in sight.

At the end of the pier, we found this sign.

Apparently, the little penguins live here and we probably could have seen them had we come back after sunset. This was a little ironic and unfortunate as we were going to board a tour bus later on to go to Phillip Islands to see the little penguins. We could have seen them here, not too far from our hotel, for free?

Anyway...

On our walk back, we looked in the water and spotted some star fish. Nathan and my mom walked along the side of the pier, counting star fish all the way back.

Then, the bus ride. Nathan entertained himself with his iPod and luckily, Caleb fell asleep in my dad's arms so it was a pretty quiet and peaceful trip in.

Our first stop was Churchill Island Heritage Farm. We saw lots of different animals.

And lots of gorgeous scenery.

Next, we stopped at a koala sanctuary.

And finally the Phillip Islands. We had a quick dinner then bundled up to brave the cold. Luckily, it wasn't actually that cold the night we went and no wind made it even better.

We weren't allowed to take pictures of the penguins, but I did take a picture of this little dude who managed to lose his shoe while watching the penguins. My dad and I had to race back looking for it all along the boardwalk, and we found it sitting on a bench just as we were being told that they were closing the viewing area off for the night.
