Caleb at 6 Months

In three days my baby's going to be 6 months old! Half a year old! How did that happen?

My big guy's weighing in at just over 7 kilos. That's just under 17 pounds for my non-metric friends. Seventeen pounds! You'd think my arms would be a little more toned than they are from carrying my little bundle of joy around all day.

Caleb's a bit longer (and stronger) than his 6M sleepers can handle. Over the weekend, he kicked through one of them.


He's faster on his tummy than any other baby I know. He can make it across the room in record time and if you're not careful, he'll start mouthing things he's not suppose to touch before you can get there.

He loves eating with the rest of the family. He doesn't want to be left on the mat or in his little rocker. He wants to be sitting in your lap and he looks at you eagerly, waiting for a little nibble of whatever you're eating. And if you give him even the smallest taste, his eyes will light up and he'll give you the biggest, most precious smile ever.

He'll bury his face in the blankets after a while of squirming around on our bed, then pop his little head back up when you least expect it. It's the cutest thing to watch.

The other night, I sat Caleb in front of the mirrors before bedtime. He happened to be sitting beside a laundry basket full of clothes and once he realized this, he started reaching for the sides. Eventually, he was facing the basket with both hands grabbing on. Then, for the next while, he kicked the basket away with his two legs, pulled himself towards the basket sliding his bum along the carpet, and he'd kick the basket away again. He did this for a good metre or so until the basket finally hit our bedroom door and he couldn't go any further. It's incredible how strong and determined he is.
