Learning the Ropes

Earlier this week, Nathan's school had their annual Jump-Off to raise awareness for the heart foundation, promote an active lifestyle and to have a bit of fun together as a school.

Nathan suggested to me the night before and the morning of, that I might want to be at his school around 1pm so I could be part of the jump off.

We had to rush there, and we made it just in time to see the students do their individual and group performances. Then, parents and staff were invited to join in along with the students as everyone found a spot on the hard court to enjoy some good ol' fashion skipping.

During the first free jump, Nathan went to skip with a friend. They seemed to be having a really good time so I didn't bother going over to skip with Nathan.

Caleb found a spare rope during the second free jump so he decided to give it a try. He had a great time running around with the older kids, waving that little rope around, trying to jump over it.

Caleb was so inspired that today that after school, in the rain, he invited himself to skip with an older girl and her mother. He managed to run through as they swung the rope for him, quite a few times without getting caught.
