Unfinished Projects

On Sunday, Andrew was kind enough to take both the boys out to a birthday party while I stayed home to make a few things.

After I had made the sunburst pillow months ago, I wanted to make a black and white chevron pillow case to finish off the rainbow I had going on my couch.

Then, life got busy and I never got around to doing it. Finally I asked Andrew if he would mind giving me a little bit of time to get it done.

So I pulled out my material.

Except I decided to make a ruffled pillow case first. I saw one not too long ago and thought we could use something a little more girly in the house. Plus, I'm trying to use up my jersey fabric.

I went at it and things were going well until I cut the material in the wrong direction. I had no choice but to put this project on hold until I could get more material because I could not stand that the ruffles didn't look as neat as my first ones.

Onto the next (read: original) project.

I had been a little hesitant with this one because it involved cutting striped material in different directions. I'm a little bit of a perfectionist and I wasn't sure if I could pull off the 45degree cuts perfectly.

Well, I did it. But all my diagonals were going the same way, instead of opposite ways. And I didn't have enough fabric to cut more strips going the opposite direction.

So that project had to be put on hold, too.

The thing is I'm the kind of person that has to finish projects quickly. I can't let things sit around for too long, or I'll lose interest and I'll never finish. But I have been learning to be more patient with my projects because I've come to accept that chances are, I won't be able to finish any significant project in one sitting. It's just not possible with two boys to look after and a house to run. It's still frustrating, but I get over it quicker.

Slightly annoyed with myself for wasting my night off, I moved onto one final project.

I may not be completely caught up with Project Life yet but I can always count on PL to give me mini projects that I can finish in one sitting.
